Culture Before the British settlement it is estimated that it was between 315,000 and 750,000 people in Australia. Some people think it was as many as 1, 25 million. It is difficult to know since it’s a long time ago.
Most of the Aborigines were hunter-gathers. But many of the indigenous people that lived near the coast and rivers were also great fishermen.
The typical indigenous food include a wide variety like pig, kangaroo, emu, wombats, goanna, snakes, birds, many insects such as honey antz, bongong moths and witchetty grubs.
They also eat many varieties of plant food such as taro, coconuts, nuts, fruits and berries.
The most used tool used in hunting is spear. Some of the mainland indigenous people also used boomerang.
The non-returnable boomerang (known as Throwing Stick) is more powerful and can injure or sometimes kill a kangaroo.
